ISEI BSU welcomed International scientific conference “Sakharov Readings 2020: Environmental Problems of the XXI Century»

On May 21, 2020 года at ISEI BSU opened the anniversary international scientific conference «Sakharov Readings 2020: environmental problems of the XXI century». More than 240 participants from 13 countries of the near and far abroad gathered a scientific forum at which it is planned to discuss the most important problems for the world community: the quality of environmental safety, the state of the environment and the impact on it, bioethical problems of studying human nature.

The organizers of the conference in 2020 were: Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus, Public Council of the Basic Organization for Environmental Education of the CIS countries,  Belarusian Republican Foundation for Basic Research, Belarusian State University, International Sakharov Environmental Institute of Belarusian State University.

The conference is held in the usual online format today.

With the beginning of the conference, the scientific community was congratulated: through a video message by the Rector of Belarusian State University Andrei Dmitrievich Korol; attending the solemn opening of the conference in ISEI BSU– First Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus Boleslav Kazimirovich Pirshtuk.

The speaker of the plenary session was the director of ISEI BSU Sergey Alexandrovich Maskevich.

           Presentations at the plenary session of the conference were made by: Korbut Alexander Nikolaevich, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus, topic of the report is “State policy of the Republic of Belarus in the field of waste management”;   LYSENKO Sergey Aleksandrovich, Director of the Institute of Nature Management of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, topic of the report is “Natural and anthropogenic measurements of climate and their impact on the environment and living conditions of the population of the Republic of Belarus”; Harig Michael, Chairman of the Bautzen District Administration (Federal Republic of Germany), topic of the report is “The Bautzen district in the conflict between the current crown pandemic and the decline of coal departed for decades”; Tarutin Igor Germanovich,, representing “N.N.Alexandrov National Cancer Centre of Belarus”, topic of the report is «Perspectives of training medical physics in the Republic of Belarus»; Tyutyunnikov Sergey Ivanovich, representing Joint Institute of Nuclear Research (Dubna, Russian Federation), topic of the report  is «The use of high particles accelerators for energy production and transmutation in subcritical systems»; Frontasyeva Marina Vladimirovna, representing the Joint Institute of Nuclear Research (Dubna, Russian Federation), topic of the report is «Andrey Sakharov — the great scientist and the citizen»; Kosova Anastasya Sergeevna, representing Republican Center of Hygiene, Epidemiology and Public Health (Minsk, Republic of Belarus), topic of the report is «Social-hygienic monitoring and its role in implementation of goals of sustainable development»; Parfenov Alexander Alexandrovuch, Deputy Chief Engineer of the Belarusian NPP, topic of the report «Belarusian NPP: safety aspects»; Lukashenko Sergey Nikolaevich, representative of представляющий  All-Russian Research Institute of Radiology and Agroecology, (Obninsk, Russian Federation), topic of the report is “Study of the nature of the distribution of tritium among ecosystem components with an underground source of tritium” (comments on the presentation of the report were made by Hanna Ivanovna Kievitskaya, the head of the Chair of Nuclear and Radiation Safety of ISEI BSU)

The plenary session was broadcast on the ISEI BSU YouTube channel  

 In the afternoon, the online conference participants continued to work in sections in the following areas:

  1. Social and environmental problems of sustainable development: global threats, challenges and opportunities. Within the framework of this section, a round table on bioethics was carried out.
  2. Environmental education for sustainable development.
  3. Study and rehabilitation of ecosystems, environmental monitoring and management.
  4. Nuclear and radiation safety.
  5. Medicine and ecology
  6. Modern methods and means of biomedical diagnosis
  7. Information systems and technologies
  8. Industrial ecology.

In the framework of the traditional conference “Sakharov Readings: Environmental Problems of the 21st Century”, the poster section was always present in the program. This year, changing the format of the conference, the organizing committee did not disregard poster presentations, they are posted electronically on the conference website http://reading.iseu.bsu.by/ in the “Posters” section.
